Born in Trescore Balneario (BG) in 1984, he graduated in Mathematics at the University of Milan Bicocca with full marks and honors in 2006. Since 1997 he has been studying composition at the Istituto Pareggiato “G. Donizetti” in Bergamo, first with A. Colla, then with S. Gervasoni, until he obtained in 2007 the diploma with full marks and honors, and the “J.S.Mayr” prize (best diploma in the academic year).
He has participated in numerous composition seminars with Billone, Solbiati, Corghi, Lachenmann, in particular at IEMA with George Benjamin and the Ensemble Modern (Frankfurt, 2005) and at “Voix Nouvelles” with Brian Ferneyhough, Michael Jarrell and François Paris (Royaumont, 2006). Strongly interested in the formal connections between mathematical research and music, he combines musical composition with research in the field of “Musical Set Theory”, with particular attention to the study of algebraic and combinatorial properties of intervallic and multi-intervallic structures.
He has been awarded in several national and international competitions, including the second prize at the Bucchi Competition, the first prize at the Sindici Competition, and the Rotary Prize. In 2008 he participates and passes the selection of the “Franco Donatoni” International Meetings for Young Composers.
He has received several commissions including, recently, those of the Divertimento Ensemble (Le Carte di Pólya), and of the Festival Archipel (Verso Snàm-dà-én).
In 2008-2009 he is among the composers selected to participate in the Cursus I Ircam in Paris. At the same time he is composer in residence for the Transforme session in Royaumont. In 2009-2010 he is chosen for a residency in Berlin at the Akademie der Künste.
