For many years Divertimento Ensemble has followed two guidelines that direct its choices and activities: attention to young people and training. The tools used to follow these directions are competitions, workshops, masterclasses and courses for young composers, performers and conductors organized annually.
The inclusion of the best young talents in the Rondò program, Divertimento Ensemble musical season in Milan, allows us to achieve an objective that is no less important and closely connected to these choices: supporting young musicians in the delicate transition from training to professional activity.
For Divertimento Ensemble, all these activities have long been complementary to the performing one. To better coordinate them, to facilitate their management, to support new ones, to allow dialogue with European institutions that pursue similar objectives, IDEA – International Divertimento Ensemble Academy was born. IDEA groups and coordinates the training activities already underway, which are divided into two distinct but complementary directions.
On the one hand, there are the courses – Orchestra Conducting Course, Call for Young Performers, Workshops for Young Composers – intended for conductors and instrumentalists interested in learning more about contemporary language and young composers; on the other, there are the competitions – International Meetings for Young Composers “Franco Donatoni”, AFAM Composition Competition, On Stage!, MergeUp! – aimed at bringing young composers to light, but also performance projects that are original and highly innovative.
